Children are interesting little creatures. I think what I enjoy most about working with the preschool age group is watching how excited they get over new discoveries and learning. I enjoy watching and guiding them through the process of learning and exploring, and celebrating their developmental milestones. I can appreciate the uniqueness that each child brings into the classroom, because each child brings a different set of values that they learn from their families, communities, and culture. They also remind me of all the good times I had when I was their age.
With that being said, I am happy to announce that I will be doing a teaching internship, and I'm excited not only to be working with some excellent staff members in the field of early childhood education, but a diverse group of children as well. High-fives all around.
I'll be working two jobs and going to school, so it will be a bit of a challenge, but I'm really happy with the direction that my life is going now. It's also great to have such a wonderful and supportive boyfriend like Paul. Thanks for keeping me balanced and in check, boo. I also want to thank Tita Tina and Glen for writing me letters of recommendation that nearly brought me to tears. Thanks for the love, y'all.
I am thankful for all the opportunities that are being presented to me and all the blessings being bestowed upon me.
Two years ago, I thought that I had everything I ever wanted in Voltaire and was ready to settle down. Looking back at it now, I can honestly say that it would've been the biggest mistake of my life. Dealing with the betrayal, denial and grief was difficult, but carrying Voltaire's burden and dealing with his dysfunctional family for a lifetime would've been hell.
Hold on now. I'm not by any means justifying his actions, or Cynthia's lack of moral values, or what his friends did. I don't regret cutting any of those people out of my life. The fact that they didn't see anything wrong with what Voltaire and Cynthia did, made it very easy for me to make that decision. After all, it's a direct reflection of how they were raised, and their lack of social competence and values.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that at the time, I felt like my life was over, when it was truly, just beginning. Life has an interesting way of working out. It just took that to make me realize that had I married Voltaire, I would've just settled for a partner and a life that was less than what I truly deserve. My relationship with Paul has allowed me to see that too. Paul makes me feel secure and loved. He makes me feel golden and lets me shine because he's not insecure.
This is such a random blog post, so I wasn't really sure what to title it. I just wanted to share and update. If you're single, go find yourself a man that will love you for everything that you are and let you shine.
Sugar, spice, and everything nice, but don't let that fool you. I embody a fierce and strong Pinay spirit. I grow organic vegetables and make every effort to live sustainably. I am a creative who dabbles in printmaking, screen printing, and I consider myself a master doodler. I'm an animal advocate and a vegetarian. I can probably survive a zombie apocalypse. I'm an avid runner, reader, a teacher, and a jack of all trades. My life can get a little crazy, but it's full of fun and adventures.

Day-Off
I am thoroughly enjoying my first day-off in a long time. I didn't have to go to work or class, or teach today. I slept pretty much all day, getting caught up on sleep that I lost during finals. I usually try to fight my body when it's tired, just to get that run in. I starting to learn that listening to my body might not be such a bad idea, so I let it rest, and will get back into my running routine tomorrow. I think I'm going to get a run in before my game tomorrow night.
I even got to spend time with Amber today. It was long overdue. Back in the day we were completely joined at the hip, but our lives have taken different paths and priorities. Although our busy schedules prevent us from being able to spend time together as often as we would like, one thing remains the same: that we are always there for each other when we need a friend to talk to and need a fresh perspective on things. I can always rely on her brutal honesty. She always does right by me. She is and always will be my best friend. No doubt about that.
I went to the Wat in San Bruno with Paul last Sunday. I had some Pad Thai, which I was hesitant to eat at first because every other version I've had in the past has been greasy, salty and a total let-down. I'm happy to say that I ate every single bite because it was crazy-good! I'm looking forward to eating at the Wat on Sunday again. It was a new experience for me, and I'm glad that Paul is encouraging the adventurous part of me.
I have to say that the time I've been with Paul has been nothing short of nurturing and loving. I was talking to Amber today about how I can appreciate that Paul doesn't let me get away with anything, in the sense that if I'm acting like a brat, he calls me out on it and won't stand for that behavior. He spoils me without spoiling me rotten. I don't know if that really makes sense to anyone else. He gives me what I need, without overcompensating, and in a way that is honest and loving. This is a stark contrast to Voltaire, who gave me everything only because he was trying to cover his tracks and hide something. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is refreshing to be with Paul because he knows who he is, and doesn't try to hide anything. Much love to my man, for being a real man, and keeping it real.
Anyways, I am looking forward to summer. I'm looking forward to being able to work a little bit more and save more money.
Hope that you all have a great week. Warm and fuzzies to you all.
Peace for now.

Compromise
Sometimes it's difficult for me to compromise. It's just not part of my temperament. I try my hardest to make sure that I get to do what I want until the only other option is to compromise. It's my last resort.
I guess you could say asking me to consider giving up something that has been a part of my life for so long, like playing ball, would be like asking me to cut-off my right arm. Is it selfish to want to play in two leagues? Yes, but not everyone gets the opportunity to do so. It's something that I get to do for myself, which doesn't happen very often. Sometimes I feel like I spend so much time trying to do right by others, that I often neglect myself.
So we'll see how this unfolds. I find myself perturbed.

SoCal, Soccer, and Doggies
Just wanted to update a bit since I need a break from all my projects. Yeesh. Finals are coming up fast. May is a busy month.
Congratulations to Bill and Euri! We're looking forward to partying like it's 1999 at your wedding. Hopefully we can figure out how to watch at least some of the fight during the slideshow. Hah. Just kidding. No really. Can we? Can't wait to head out to SoCal. Hey Jetblue! Shouldn't I have earned a free flight by now??
I didn't get into the Nike Women's Marathon this year, but at least I tried. Oh well. I have other races to run.
Friday night co-ed indoor soccer league and Sunday co-ed outdoor soccer league. Yay. I'm going to be tired and dark, but at least I'm doing something that I love. Looking forward to the funky tan lines.
Getting Notorious D.O.G. certified as a service dog in the upcoming months. I'm really looking forward to that. Pika tags along because she's a great distraction for the other dogs.
Looking forward to visiting the Wat in San Bruno with Paul. I would like to eventually become conversational in Thai. I'm looking forward to the challenge. I already speak three languages, so let's see if I can add another.
Paul Poompan is still awesome.
Peace.
